Patterns in the Sand

It was a windy day in Ocean Grove today, but not too cold considering it is late November. The sun, wind, and water created interesting shapes and patterns in the sand.

Unique patterns form at low tide as the water collects in the shallow tide pools.

The November sun cast long shadows from the fence even at mid-day.

November in my Garden

The rain stopped finally today and I found some interesting subjects around the garden. I took my time and used my tripod along with a low ISO and very small aperture in an effort to get some very sharp images.

I experimented with zooming the lens in a little during exposure. There were several different interesting variations, including some that were very abstract like the one above. The one to the left was the best combination of some sharpness along with some of the zoom effect.

I liked the contrast in shape, color, and texture with these leaves that had fallen on the lamb's ears plant.

I found this little seedling under another plant. I transplanted it into a pot and if it survives the winter, I will plant it in a more suitable spot.

And finally, a portrait of the colors of November; orange, gold, brown, and rust.

A Few of my Favorite Fall Trees

This is one of my favorite fall trees. I first took a photo of it five years ago. Some years it is prettier than others. This year it was beautiful and still going strong in November.

Looking way up with my wide angle lens. Most of the other trees have lost their leaves, but this still had most of them.

This tree is in the middle of a graveyard. I pass by it every day on my way to work.

Around the Pond

The leaves covered the pond behind my office last week as we near the end of the fall season. With all of the rain we had, I didn't get out as much as I would have liked.

I liked the contrast of the blue picnic table and umbrella against the golds and browns of the foliage.
